What we collect
- Usage data — the page you viewed, the site that linked you here, your IP address, the country and sometimes the city it indicates, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and which language the page was shown in. Recorded by this site itself rather than by anyone else (see How we measure traffic below).
- Download events — which app version was downloaded and when, so we can show accurate download counts. Not linked to a personal identifier.
- Comments — the display name, optional email address, and comment text you submit. Your email is never published; it is used only to contact you about the comment.
- Email you send us — the contents of messages sent to the addresses on our feedback page.
We do not require an account to browse or download, and we do not ask for payment details anywhere on this site.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of first-party items in local storage to remember interface preferences — your theme, your language, and your sign-in if you have one. These are not used to track you and are not shared. Third-party cookies may be set by the services listed below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site continues to work without them.
Third-party services
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic measurement. Google's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — aggregate interaction and session-quality metrics.
- Google AdSense — advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings.
- Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection; processes request metadata as part of delivering the site.
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy. Analytics and advertising are only active when the corresponding IDs are configured for the deployment you are visiting.
How we measure traffic
This site counts its own page views rather than sending them to an analytics company. When you open a page, it records the address of that page, the site that linked you here (as a domain only — never the full link, so a search you typed is not written down), your IP address, the country and sometimes the city it indicates, your device type, and the language the page was shown in.
No cookie is used for this and nothing is stored on your device. We do not build a profile of you, we do not follow you between sites, and this data is never sold or shared. It is used to see which pages are read, which translations are worth maintaining, and whether the site works on phones.
An IP address can identify you, so we treat it as personal data and it is covered by your rights below. If you would rather we did not hold yours, write to us using the address at the end of this page and we will remove it.
How long we keep data
Traffic records, including IP addresses, are deleted automatically after 400 days. Comments are retained until you ask us to remove them or the post is deleted. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to resolve your request. Where the third-party services listed above are enabled, their own retention windows apply to the data they collect.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Send requests to contact@plantcalc.com. We respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Traffic is served over HTTPS. Comment submissions are moderated before publication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
