Water treatment & RO plant

Enter the treated water you need and what is in the feed. The list below is what that implies — sand and carbon filters, dosing, membranes and vessels, the high pressure pump, and storage — with a rate column you fill in yourself.

How this works →

Your figures

Treated water out, not raw water in.

Sized on running hours; the balance is backwash and CIP.

Brackish water up to about 10,000. Above that the pressures and the membranes change.

Permeate as a share of feed. The rest leaves as reject.

Material take-off

What to buy, at what size, and how many — worked out from the figures above.

Rates

Every line is estimated from those two figures: its steel — or steel-equivalent — mass at the steel rate, stainless at 3.2×, plus its install days at the labour rate. There is no price feed behind this, so the two anchors are seeded from typical Pakistan figures as of September 2026 and are yours to correct. Type over any individual rate and yours is used instead.

Questions

How is the membrane count worked out?
From flux — how many litres each square metre of membrane passes per hour. Brackish water runs around twenty, falling as the feed gets saltier, because a dirtier feed has to be pushed harder and fouls faster. The area divided by thirty-seven gives the number of 8040 elements, six to a pressure vessel.
Why does recovery matter?
It sets how much raw water you have to pump and treat for a given output, and how much reject you have to dispose of. At seventy percent recovery, every cubic metre of permeate needs one point four of feed — and the remaining zero point four leaves as concentrate that has to go somewhere legal.
Why is the carbon filter essential?
Because chlorine destroys a polyamide membrane in hours, not months. The carbon filter and the bisulphite dosing are the two things standing between a chlorinated supply and a very expensive replacement.
What is not included?
The bore well or raw supply, civil work and the plant room, the electrical supply, effluent or brine disposal beyond the discharge line, and any specialist post-treatment such as ozonation or bottling.
